HISTORY OF THE CLUB

Monkshill Table Tennis club was founded in March 1974 by Lon Moir who ran the club along with the help of Dave Fish and Geoff Taylor over the years. The club was based at the Monkshill Sports Centre in Farnborough Avenue in Selsdon.

In 2010 at the age of 86 Lon decided that he had done his fair share and he decided to retire from running the club and take life a bit easier enabling him to devote more time to his other interests.

A committee of members was formed to take over the running of the club and it was decided to move to the venue at The Royal Russell School in August of 2010. Subsequently the club was renamed to South Croydon Table Tennis Club. With the move we were able to open the club 2 nights a week, Tuesday and Wednesday and run throughout the year.

South Croydon Table Tennis Club then moved to their present venue at the Sir Philip Game Centre in August 2012.

The club has been a supporter of the Croydon League over the years and this season (2023-2024) we are entering 6 teams in the Croydon league. We also enter teams into the Sevenoaks league that plays on Sunday afternoons.
